Our mission

Operation PETS is a 501(c)(3) not for profit organisation dedicated to ending pet overpopulation by providing targeted, high-volume, high quality, and affordable sterilisation services for companion animals and feral cat populations. We are privileged to work with a wide variety of shelters, humane societies, animal rescue and adoption groups, as well as other animal welfare organisations in our community. The pet overpopulation crisis in Western New York is a direct result of animals left unaltered in our communities. The solution to the stray, abandoned, and unwanted companion animal and feral cat dilemma is implementation of widespread sterilisation programs. Only by spaying and neutering will we get a handle on pet overpopulation and end the euthanasia of thousands of animals each year in our communities. Together we are making a difference. A heartfelt thank you to all those that fill our lobby every day and entrust your companions to us, to our supporters, staff, volunteers, and partner groups everyone who helps us save animal lives through prevention.

Our History

Operation PETS is modeled after Humane Alliance in Asheville, North Carolina. Humane Alliance became so effective at delivering spaying and neutering services in their region that they quickly became the “go to” agency for groups that wanted to replicate their success. Our first visit to Humane Alliance showed us the way to ending pet overpopulation through implementation of a targeted, high-quality, high-volume, low-cost spay and neuter clinic. Operation PETS opened on July 21, 2008. We are the first clinic in New York State modeled after the Humane Alliance vision and are proud to be one of 60 Humane Alliance mentored clinics across the U.S. with a shared mission saving companion animals’ lives through prevention.

Our Staff

Operation PETS is a member of and is supported by the Animal Alliance of Western New York. We have the highest regard and concern for the animals in our care and treat each animal as if it was one of our own. Our veterinarians specialize in spay and neuter surgery. Along with being skilled and experienced in high-quality and high-volume surgical techniques our goal is to perform sterilisations in a humane manner. This means keeping out patients stress, pain, and the risk of complications as minimal as possible.
